Weekend bites: Grace the Establishment, Eat Drink Blog 2012 and Chinatown foodcourt

Grace the Establishment

‘Any two’ burgers, buns or dog + fries $18.00 available all day, every day
Mini wagyu cheese burger: American mustard, house-made pickle, Swiss cheese, tomato ketchup; normally $9.00
Korean pork bun: kim chi, chilli and mayonnaise; normally $9.00
French fries, tomato ketchup; normally $6.50

Smoked coca cola pork ribs with apple slaw; $18.00

Not much love in these ribs; there wasn’t that much meat on the bone, the meat itself was dry but at least the sauce was flavourful and sweet with a caramelised coating.

Red Door Bakery, Croydon

I’m a sucker for carbs, so it’s not a surprise that I make the trek down west again to grab a few goodies from my favourite bakery!

Some of the things I picked up on the weekend:

red door bakery, olive oil loaf
Olive oil loaf, $6.00
Soft and fluffy clouds of bread inside with a hint of olive oil encased by a crunchy slightly toast crust. Nomnomnom~

red door bakery, savoury tart, leek gruyere thyme tart
Leek, gruyere and thyme tart, $4.00
Creamy, smooth cheese filling with a crisp tart! Would have loved to have these straight outtah the oven.. probably best to get myself a seat next time and wait for golden morsels of food to come straight out of the oven.. then gobble them all up!

red door bakery, creme brulee tart
Creme brulee tart, $4.50
These are delightful!! I wish they were healthy enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Now what to try next? Any suggestions?!

Red Door Bakery, Croydon

After a light brunch at Queen Street Cafe, N and I walk a few steps down and step foot inside Red Door Bakery – my favourite bakery in Adelaide for a hit of carbs… there’s always room for some carbs and sugar… unfortunately! :P

red door bakery

The bakery is small, with very limited seating by the windows and outside, the bread is FRESH, the kitchen is open so feel free to ‘peek’ at the bakers hard at work and the tarts are beyond amazing.

Creme brulee tart; $4.50

THIS is well worth the trip from anywhere. The tart is amazing – the crack you get upon bite after bite through the torched top, the sweet smooth creme brulee paired with the tart pastry… omnomnomnom. I’m drooling just thinking about it! I actually made the trip to get one of these babies this past weekend but unfortunately for me, they were sold out and there was a wait of 30 minutes for the next fresh batch. I’ll be back!!

Pear danish

red door bakery
Chorizo and caramelised onion bread stick, olive and rosemary bread stick; $3.00 each

Also scored myself a gigantic loaf of sour dough bread ($6.50) which I managed to annihilate over the course of 24 hours… so good, yet so bad. Seriously, this place is deadly… so carboholics, BEWARE!
