Here goes take 2! *saves*
Not long to go now before everyone is enjoying the festive season with lots of yummy food, refreshing beverages, sweet treats, Christmas pressies and love and laughter with their families and close friends! A fantastic blend to start the holidays I bet
Not long ago, Wine Selectors approached me with a small 4 part project. My task is to show you how I enjoy my wine, with who, where and what occasion and with what food! Onwards to part 1 version 2:
Petersons Sparkling NV dozen
Taste elegance in a glass with this Hunter Valley Sparkling – the perfect choice to get your summer parties started!
This elegant white has lifted citrus and melon aromas with a persistent and delicate bead. Lively and refreshing on the palate, it has lemon and subtle peach flavours, zesty acidity and good length. via Wine Selectors
Coincidentally, a large group of us didn’t have any plans last Saturday night so we quickly arranged a get together with pizza, drinks and a movie to spend a lazy night in! I for one, thought it was a perfect occasion to bring a bottle of wine to share and enjoy with others whilst we stuff our faces (quite literally) with pizza, chat about nonsensical things and just have a damn good time.
The pizza feast for our party of 8:
2 x 18″ party size (24 slices) pizzas with half and half toppings; $38.00
Classic chicken – bbq sauce, cheese, chicken, onion, capsicum, pineapple
American – tomato, cheese, salami, capsicum, oregano
Prospect special – tomato, cheese, ham, salami, mushroom, olives, anchovies, chilli
Supreme – the lot!
12″ large (8 slices); $18.00
Gourmet Mexicano – tomato, cheese, salami, fresh tomatoes, roast capsicum, jalepeno peppers
Continuing on with the ‘lazy’ theme, we went local with our pizzas and ordered from Prospect Pizza Bar which was in the neighbourhood. Great pizzas, crispy base although slightly chewy and great toppings. Favourite toppings were the classic chicken and gourmet mexicano!
The wine was light, citrusy and dry with a lingering zesty zing that we didn’t know how to appreciate. I think it would’ve been more suited to seafood as Wine Selectors does suggest! Better listen to the experts aye?
I managed to tackle 5 slices before I smacked into a brick wall and the food coma was in progress. (Now that’s when you know it’s time for the movie to start!) Everyone got comfortable, beer and wine glasses in arms reach and brains were all switched off for the next two and a half hours.
We sat through ‘Warrior‘ which I thought was a fantastic movie! Favourite movie of the year and it also stars Australia’s Joel Edgerton.
