The Curious Squire, the newly opened pub/bar took over the Sparrow’s premises and offers a wide selection of bar snacks and pub food in a relaxed environment. The venue was open and spacey with lots of chit chatter once the bar started to fill up.

The ‘curious’ menu is displayed above the bar counter on their movie sessions title board: bright white lights with large black lettering.

The day’s curious Coffin Bay oysters – half a dozen; $16.50
Lightly tempura fried oysters that offered a delightful crunch with a briny and creamy oyster innard all dunked in a sweet and sour sauce with coriander leaves and hints of chilli.

Chancer onion rings; $8.50
Dude food of onion rings. Battered onion rings accompanied by two different sauces. Slightly greasy but too good to steer away from, the onion ring was sweet and soft with a crisp battered casing. Unfortunately on my second visit here, the onion rings weren’t as good with too much batter overwhelming the onion and in turn losing it’s flavour.

Sliders trio with fat fries; $18.50
Angus beef: angus beef patty, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, romesco sauce and dijon mustard
Wild boar: wild boar patty, coppa collo, fontina, apple chutney, lettuce, tomato, onion and secret house sauce
Chicken parmy: chicken parmy with lettuce, onion and coleslaw

BBQ rabbit wood oven pizza; $24.00
The house made bbq sauce was overly sweet and overwhelmed the pizza entirely; we barely got through one slice each before taking the rest home for take away. We also asked our waitress if we could pack one of the sliders home for take away cause we couldn’t fit another bite in but the chef wouldn’t allow it cause it ‘wouldn’t fit in the pizza box’. We were happy to squash it in but nope, no go. :/ I took a bite and just admitted defeat so we left with the ‘not so great’ pizza. Our waitress was super helpful and apologetic though (thanks!).
PS. the pizza had some pizzazz added with some extra toppings which made for a better feed the day after!

Those deep fried oreos sure did pique my interest! And the little baskets that they come in are too cute as well.
