A short stroll down Semaphore Road, paired with some hungry eyes and accommodating bellies saw us making our way into El Toro Espanol for a small bite. I think we often over estimate the capacity of our bellies… which is definitely not a good thing!!

We made a very small selection of 2 savouries and 1 sweet tapa:

BBQ rare beef
Pork belly: slow cooked pork marinated with sherry, garlic and paprika; $7.00
Got the bbq rare beef from their specials menu – a really good choice on our part! Simple and clean flavours with super tender meat – less is definitely more.

The pork belly with crackling however may have looked delicious but turned out rather bland and needed a good squeeze of the lemon wedge provided to add some depth and flavour to the meat.

Churros: Spanish style donuts served with sherry chocolate; $5.90
Yum! The sherry chocolate concoction was a winner and a favourite with the stranger. Just enough sweetness and a smooth consistency that coated each churros perfectly.
Looks like we’ll be heading back another time to tackle a lot more dishes on a much more emptier stomach!
