So just recently, I made my way to Melbourne treating myself to a small holiday and most importantly, TENNIS – even more important than food (shock, horror!) ! Sure, I had plans on places where I wanted to try out… but plans don’t always work out, especially when you’re on holidays. You gotta just go with the flow. Surprisingly, I didn’t really think much of my tummy, more so about what tennis matches I was going to go see and who I was going to feast my eyes on (Fed, I got my eyes on you!) ! Most of my days were spent at Melbourne Park, and on the odd occasion or two, I’d treat my stomach to a ‘Gourmet Hot Dog’ at 8 bucks a pop consisting of a hot dog bun, kransky , cheese and tomato sauce ~
View of the Melbourne city skyline from my hotel roof top.
After spending a night in Melbourne, friend and I headed to a nearby cafe – Urban Deli to grab ourselves a much needed caffeine hit and breakfast which was bustling with city workers and patrons. The cafe is big, split into two levels with window bar tables, stools, outside tables and a large display of fresh sandwiches, wraps and baguettes. Upstairs prove to be a more tame and quite area with a view overlooking the city streets
Breakfast menu on a blackboard column, window bar table upstairs overlooking the streets, bacon and eggs on toast, Brekky 4 $8.50
I ordered the ‘brekky 4′ consisting of poached eggs on toast with crumbed feta, spinach and mushrooms. DELISH! The feta, sauteed spinach and mushrooms are splendid and flavourful; and the poached egg was runny and gooey – just the way I like it. All gobbled up with the a slice of crunchy thick toast – a lovely combination of textures. ~
I’ll end off with some of my snaps whilst on my tennis adventure during the Australian Open 2011!
